Fourteen people were killed and two seriously injured when a six-wheel truck crashed into a modified pick-up truck serving as a passenger carrier in Thailand this morning.
According to reports, the truck lost all control and crashed into two pickup trucks ahead of it, before veering across the road and ultimately hitting an oncoming truck, causing both vehicles to plunge into a nearby ditch. Eleven people were killed instantly as the crash happened and three were later pronounced dead.
Thailand has one of the world’s highest road-fatality rates at 38.1 road deaths per 100,000 people in 2010, according to the World Health Organization.
