A garbage man in Ireland had to be lifeflighted to a nearby hospital after his brakes allegedly failed on his garbage truck and ultimately forced him to crash into the front of a store.
Police say its a miracle there weren’t more serious injuries, considering the size of the truck, the rate of speed it was traveling and the high volume of pedestrians walking the streets of the Irish town.
The truck lost control around 1:30pm local time, and continued down a steep hill until coming to abrupt stop about halfway into a local stores entrance. Witnesses say the driver was honking his horn to alert pedestrians but it wasn’t enough to spare the six cars and three drivers that were struck by the truck before it hit the store.
They all survived, but also had to be lifeflighted to a local hospital.
The street was closed for a few hours, and local police are currently investigating the situation. Police would not comment on whether they were sure brake failure had caused the crash or not.
