A New Jersey school bus driver was cited for careless driving after her otherwise empty school bus struck three parked cars Monday afternoon, police said.
Barbara Revel, 61, of Manchester, was getting ready to pick up students in the parking lot at Toms River High School North just before 4:30 p.m. when she released the brake and the vehicle began to move (no surprise there), she told police.
The brakes then failed when she attempted to stop the bus, and then it continued until it struck the vehicles and came to an abrupt halt.
Revel was taken to Community Medical Center to be treated for minor arm pain, police said.
No one else was hurt.
