1 Dead 50 Injured in Philippines Crash

A truck carrying 54 people on a commute to a nearby Philippine town crashed last month killing one and injuring almost all of the survivors.

According to the Manila Bulletin, the passengers of the truck were all pilgrims who were traveling to reach a site for prayer and reflection on Surip Beach.

But when trying to negotiate a turn on a descending road, the brakes malfunctioned and the pure inertia created by the truck forced it to crash and tip over to its side.

Only the driver and three other passengers in the front seat survived almost without a scratch.

Police said  most of those injured were sent home after receiving medical treatment while others are still confined in medical facilities for the timebeing.

As for the driver, there is yet to be any reports regarding his punishment (or lack of thereof).
