Unmanned School Bus Goes For Joy Ride Due To Brake Failure

A unmanned school bus at a high school in Texas slammed into the side of it’s gymnasium yesterday after it experienced brake failure just by sitting in the school’s empty parking lot.

Apparently the bus had never seen the line of duty and was a spare. The bus was parked perpendicular to the building and crashed directly into the side, traveling about 70 feet down a slight incline.

The gym was vacant at the time of the crash, said the High School principal Max Lowe. A gym teacher told Lowe that he heard a loud bang and saw damage on the inside of the gym.

A gym class was about to begin and students were moved to the auxiliary gym, Lowe said.

Maintenance Director Ron Houser and an engineer were at the school Wednesday afternoon to assess the wreck. Lowe added that how much damage, what kind of repair is needed and what exactly caused the bus to roll into the building are unknown variables at this point in time.

Lowe said, “All we know is a bus ran into our wall.”
