The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has published two separate reports highlights braking system issues within 100,000 units of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles. 75,000 of them that were manufactured between April 15, 2005 and September 4, 2012 are being recalled for a front brake hose malfunction.
A second yet similar issue is illustrated with both the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport. In this report, both vehicles have an improperly routed brake booster vacuum line that has the possibility to be subjected to excessive wear, which will eventually cause the line to loose vacuum power. This would cause the power assist function of the brakes to fail, increasing the effort needed to stop the SUV. This problem affects 25,000 units that were built between August 16, 2012 and January 8, 2014, along with the 2014 Range Rover Sport manufactured between May 7, 2013 and January 8, 2014.
Jaguar Land Rover will begin contacting customers about the recalls starting next week, March 13, 2015. As typical with all government mandated recalls, the issues will be fixed by the dealership free of charge to its customers. If you suspect your vehicle may be affected, it is advised you take your vehicle in to your local dealership as soon as possible.
