A man was injured after the brakes failed on a vehicle while towing a pickup truck this past Sunday night.
According to WBIW, 18-year-old Justin Kelly was in a 1998 Dodge Durango which was being towed by a 2001 Ford Ranger driven by 54-year-old Timothy Kelly.
The vehicles were halfway to the tow yard when the unexpected happened.
Timothy Kelly swerved to the left to avoid being hit by the Durango. As the Durango went around the Ranger, the tow rope tightened and caused the Ranger to be pulled around. When this happened, the tow rope snapped and caused the Ranger to skid around and up onto the guardrail and overturn.
The Durango stopped a short distance from the accident site.
Fortunately, no contact was made between the two vehicles.
Justin was not injured during the incident. Timothy suffered contusions and bruises to his entire body and was taken to a local for treatment and then transferred to an Indianapolis hospital after he suffered bleeding in a muscle.
