Brake Failure in Philly: Ends With A “Rocky” Finish

PHILADELPHIA- A 20 year old man by the name of Emin Faki turned himself into the Philly Police Friday after the video of him driving his BMW down the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art went viral. According to Faki, he has a logical explanation of why is exactly he decided it’d be smart to execute such an idiotic maneuver. His reasoning? Brake failure.

In the video, the BMW bumps slowly down the steps and attempts to back up several times. At several points, the brake lights appear to come on.

But Faki still claims that his brakes and his engine was giving him trouble, stating that after he reached the summit of the steps, he lost control of his vehicle and then it began to drift sideways.

If Faki is telling the truth, all charges will be dropped. Considering it is very possible to access the top of the steps by car. But if it is determined brake failure was not the cause of this eccentric accident, then Faki will be charged with felony vandalism, which can result in a hefty fine or possibly even jail time.

The District Attorney’s Office preliminary approved charges against Faki on Friday afternoon, but police decided to test the car first.
