Brake Failure Crash Injures 3 Teen Pedestrians

Three 14 year-old girls were sent to the hospital yesterday after an out of control Prius curbed the sidewalk and struck them while they were on their way to class. One of the injured is currently in critical condition and is receiving life support, while the other two are in serious condition.

Witness Fernando Serna stated: “There was a group of girls yelling in terror. Two of the girls were conscious and were trying to get up. They were trying to get mobile. People were trying to help them stay put. One of the girls was not in a moveable state. She looked pretty twisted up and everyone was pretty scared for her”

The students were on their way back to the school following a PE class in a nearby park when they were struck.

The driver, who blamed the reckless driving on brake failure, remained at the scene while officials investigated. He was described as “clearly distraught and crying uncontrollably” as he talked to police and investigators.

Police say they are launching a full investigation and taking the car apart piece-by-piece to look for any mechanical error that would of caused the driver to do such terrible damage.
