Three days ago during the Aaron’s 499 at the famous Talladega superspeedway, a racer by the name of Ryan Truex was plagued by bad brakes during one of the final laps of the race. Truex started at a cozy 24th for the start of the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega with no complaints on the handling of his car. Later on, Truex was able to race through the field and was scored just inside the top 10 by lap 35.
After falling back to 18th position with just eight laps remaining, Truex was headed toward the front of the field when a multi-car accident broke out in the first turn. In an effort to avoid the conundrum, Truex quickly slowed his pace, which immediately triggered a flat tire on his car. While making his way back to pit road, the brake rotor unexpectedly exploded causing terminal damage to the vehicle and permanently ending Truex’s race just a few laps prior to the scheduled distance.
Truex was available for comment following the race and had this to say about his performance and his team: “Our team built a great Toyota Camry race car this weekend. We were competitive in practice and qualified inside the top 25. We raced inside the top 25 nearly all day, and even logged several laps inside the top 10. Overall, I couldn’t be more proud of the effort by our BK Racing team. The guys worked hard all day, but unfortunately our result won’t reflect how well we raced here today. Our team is definitely excited to come back to Talladega this October.”
