Brake Failure Deemed Cause of 6 Car Pile-Up in China

A civilian truck driver was arrested today (Wednesday) by police for his involvement in a traffic accident that killed a motorcyclist.

According to sources, a 59-year-old Soh Choon Seng was operating a truck that reportedly suffered a brake failure. Soh’s vehicle then hit two cars, a motorcycle, and two buses that had stopped in front of him.

Yahoo Singapore states that the motorcyclist was an Indian man in his 20s, and was pronounced dead at the scene where the accident occurred. However, another four people were transported to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where three were later released and one was warded for further assessment.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to the incident at about 9:50am, and they deployed three ambulances, a fire engine, a red rhino and two support vehicles to the scene.

A few who witnessed the incident posted about it on Twitter, describing it as a “horrible” accident”.
