For the past five years, Raybestos has been ringing the alarm about lightweight rotors. These rotors are manufactured in a way that removes material from the plates, fins and hat to save money. Some people in the industry were skeptical and said it was a OK because OEs build to higher-than-normal specifications for safety.
The following videos show something rather interesting that backs up the Raybestos claims. Both of the videos show catastrophic failures of the rotor’s hat. It is tough to say the origins of the rotors, but it is not a pleasant sight to see.
