A recent survey conducted by CouponCodes4u.com found that one third of Americans drive unsafe vehicles. The poll surveyed 2,724 Americans nationwide, and 35 percent of the respondents who own vehicles admitted that they thought their car was unsafe. Furthermore, 18 percent admitted that they were unsure, while 47 percent said they positive their vehicle was safe to drive.
The study doesn’t define what “unsafe” means, but this information has been confirmed time and time again by other survey. There is a large population of drivers that simply don’t care about safety. Check out these two alarming stats:
- A National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) survey found that one in 12 drivers had driven drunk at least once over the course of the last year.
- An Allstate survey found that 34 percent of drivers have sent a text message or email while driving – although that number fluctuates with age.
We don’t even want to guess how many drivers are out there driving with brake and brake light-related problems. That same Allstate survey found that seven in 10 American drivers say that as a result of being distracted while driving, they have slammed on the brakes or swerved to avoid an accident, missed a traffic signal, or caused an accident. Let’s keep those cars safe and consumers more aware; because drivers are certainly not always safe.
