Brakes for Breasts Raises Cancer Awareness One Brake Pad at a Time

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. You have probably seen pink ribbons everywhere from NFL stadiums to wiper blades, and thanks to the Brakes for Breasts campaign, automotive repair facilities have followed the pink trend.

This year, 26 shops in 16 states are offering free brake pads to their customers in support of breast cancer awareness with the help of Brake for Breasts. Customers only pay for labor and other parts, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Cleveland Clinic Breast Cancer Research Fund. Last year, the campaign raised $10,000 for the fund, and the goal for 2012 is to raise $100,000.

Last year, the campaign raised $10,000 for the Cleveland Clinic Breast Cancer Vaccine Fund. The goal for 2012 is $100,000. 100% of the proceeds go to the fund that is developing vaccine that can prevent breast cancer.

It isn’t too late to join the effort. Click here to request information to participate in the campaign, and check out this inspirational video featuring Chantilly, Virginia-based Master Mechanic, one of this year’s participating shops.
