NY Truck Crashes With Asphalt, Brakes At Fault

An asphalt spray transport truck carrying 5,000 gallons of the sticky stuff slid off Route 23 from Campbell Road in the town of Ashland, NY on Monday afternoon, after suffering a brake failure.

The unidentified driver sustained injuries categorized to be non life-threatening and was transported from the scene by Ashland ambulance.

The driver was reportedly attempting to navigate a right turn when the truck flipped on its side, scraped across the main highway, crashed through a guardrail and ultimately grazed a utility pole on its way down a grassy embankment.

Asphalt materials, known as emulsion, reportedly leaked on to the ground. The materials, typically used in oil and stone work on roads, are non-hazardous, and were immediately removed from the scene by professionals.
