On Wednesday, the Fairmont Police Department and Fairmont Fire Department responded to the vehicle accident where the only vehicle involved drove into the front of a liquor store in West Virginia.
According to reports, around 4:48 p.m. a truck was driving down a local street when the brakes on the vehicle suddenly failed. The driver took evasive action and curbed the sidewalk to avoid the heavy traffic.
The driver of the truck then steered into the front of the liquor store to avoid a pedestrian who was walking on the sidewalk.
The majority of the front store windows were shattered, along with merchandise and three refrigerators.
Police say the man did a good job maneuvering his vehicle to avoid any real accident.
One officer was quoted saying “Buildings can be replaced, people cannot”
There were no injuries reported from the incident and it is believed there will be no citation issued.
The liquor store was reported to have opened up the next day.
