A father and son were caught by local Texan authorities last week for an elaborate car repair scam that left a vast number of drivers and elderly screwed out of their own money.
Police reports state Timothy Crow and his son, Robert Crow, would spray brake fluid behind people’s back tires and then promptly tell the drivers they have a brake-line leak and that the car is too dangerous to be driven. The men would charge the travelers $50 to $100 to “fix” the line until the drivers can get to a repair shop.
Detective Melanie Bickford said the two men have scammed as many 15 drivers since Thanksgiving. The incidents happened on spots just off Interstate 75, in Bibb, Houston and Peach counties.
