CHP: Car in fatal crash had bad brakes
A spokesman for the Santa Maria office of the California Highway Patrol said Wednesday that continued investigation has revealed that the brakes were not functioning properly on the car of a Santa Maria man who was killed last week in a collision that also injured the wife and son of congressional candidate Abel Maldonado.
Joseph Scheurn, 32, reportedly caused the July 23 wreck when his 1985 Honda Accord didn’t stop fully at the intersection of Foxen Canyon and Dominion roads east of Santa Maria.
