Ugg boots were the cause for a call to the real police and not the fashion police in Manchester, England. A teacher wearing Ugg boots caused a head-on collision when one of her shoes became trapped under a brake pedal.
Vera Baxter was unable to slow her VW down because her Ugg boots had become snagged on the brake pedal and she took evasive action to avoid hitting cars in front. However, she veered into the path of a Mercedes.
Baxter was arrested and charged with dangerous driving after being treated for cracked ribs and internal bruising. The other driver suffered whiplash.
Earlier this year, the charity “Brake” in the UK appealed to women not to get behind the wheel in steep wedges, platform shoes or stilettos, I guess they have to add Uggs to the list.
In a survey of driver it was found that 39 per cent of women wear flip flops whilst driving and 24 per cent take to the road in bare feet. The study also found out men are also taking chances with 27 per cent wearing flip flops and 22% cent going barefoot.
