LA PAZ – At least 10 people died Monday in Bolivia including an additional five that were critically injured when a van crashed into a tractor-trailer on the expressway between the cities of La Paz and El Alto, Bolivian police said.
The accident occurred at sunset on an exit ramp, deputy commander Carlos Clavijo told the media. A transit authority official was quoted later stating that eight people were killed instantly and another two died after they were transported to hospital. All the fatalities exclusively occurred to the people that had been traveling in the van, which was orginally carrying 15 people.
As of now, authorities are still investigating the accident but are hinting towards the possibility of brake failure.
