Professional actress and Dancing With The Stars co-host Brooke Burke walked away without a scratch yesterday after she totaled her Maserati when her brakes failed.

She passed a field sobriety test administered by police officers, and has now revealed she lost control of her car after the anti-lock braking system (ABS)  malfunctioned and she decided to hit the fence rather than risk her life in oncoming traffic.

Burke told Tmz.com, “Abs failure in my Maserati, I was driving to (Tv show) Melissa & Joey. I actually had my daughter’s little friend with me and I just lost control. And I think the car behind me probably thought I was a drunk driver because I was trying to recover the swerve so that’s why the cops had me do the test. It was 7:30 am, it was fine. They were really cool about it, it was safety, I think it’s the law…”

“I actually made the choice to drive up the hill and there’s a chain link fence there for safety. I mean I don’t care about the car, I care about the little girl in the back of the car, so it was either oncoming traffic because I couldn’t recover out of the swerve.”
