Imagine when you need your brakes the most; a child darts into the street or the vehicle in front of you suddenly comes to a stop. Would you be surprised to learn that right now, all over the country, people are driving with unsafe or unchecked brakes?
In the last few weeks, State Officials in Louisiana have reported over 200 acts of brake tag fraud in the Bayou State. According to these reports, it is becoming easier to keep unsafe and unchecked brakes on the street. Although brake pad failure represents a measly 5% of all car crashes in the United States, it is imperative to consider the real danger that these criminals are imposing on local communities and all over the country.
As reported by the International Journal of Science and Technology, a study of 100 people suggests that a mere 14% of all drivers on the road get their brakes checked at the standard 5,000km (3,106 miles) benchmark. The study goes on to elaborate on the rest of the subjects that admitted to only getting brake checks when it is absolutely needed. Unfortunately in most cases, people wait entirely too long to get checked and often this lack of responsibility can result in catastrophic proportions.
