Brake Failure Today’s Common Scapegoat

In the United Arabic Emirates, brake failure seems to be the “reoccurring theme” for reckless drivers that crash their cars. According to a study done by Technical Inspection Center, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), there are dozens of faulty reports by teens and adults alike that blame brake failure for their irresponsible driving.

But when it comes time to check the car for any kind of malfunction, most of the time the car comes up clean and it is found that the driver was the one responsible for the crash. Nassir Nouri, Director of the RTA, said “I tested a car reported to be suffering from brake failure. I spent most of the day testing the car on roads closed for testing purposes, but I found there was no problem in the brakes,”.

Nouri said the center had received many “strange” reports about car brake problems, including that from a school boy who failed the second half of his driving test.

People in the UEA seem to think brake failure is common with most cars. On the contrary, most cars that experience brake failure are ones that are extremely old and overdue for new brakes. A brake failure on a newer car is nearly unheard of.
