Word out of Coos Bay, Oregon a few weeks ago in relevance to a gruesome five-way car crash that resulted after a Lincoln sedan experienced brake failure. According to news reports, the vehicle was traveling down Ocean Blvd in Coos Bay when the brakes failed, causing the vehicle to hurdle into the vehicles ahead of it culminating in a huge chain reaction of crashes involving several different cars.
Luckily, only the driver of the Lincoln and one other person was injured in the accident and both seem to be in stable condition. City Operations Administrator Randy Dixon said a report by the Coos Bay Police Department of motor vehicle collisions on Ocean over a five-year period showed a significant decrease in accidents since the roadway was reconfigured from four lanes to two.
