Auto Hold Brakes Make It Into Production: Lawyers Salivating

2016LincolnMKX_18_HRAt the North American International Auto Show, Lincoln debuted a new technology that is, well… rather lazy. The new Auto Hold feature on the MKX relieves the driver from having to press the brake pedal continuously to keep the vehicle stationary in traffic. Auto Hold then releases the brakes when the accelerator pedal is pressed.

How hard is it to hold the brake pedal down in traffic? Is it too hard for some people to put it in park? How soon before a driver thinks Auto Hold id engaged and ends up in a ditch?

Are Americans that lazy that we find holding down a brake pedal is difficult? This is just an example of “feature creep” on new cars that look great in the new car brochure, but the customer will never use.
