A six-wheeled truck loaded with cinder blocks slammed into a Phuket power pole on Patong Hill, Thailand last week after the vehicle’s brakes failed.
If you recall our story last week, it is very common for trucks and outdated vehicles to suffer brake failure on Patong Hill due to its steep decline and hairpin turns.
Police were said to have arrived at the scene at about 10am.
No one was injured in the accident, police officers told the Phuket Gazette.
The driver told police that he was delivering the cinder blocks from Phuket Ka Cement in Rassada to a construction site in Patong when the brakes failed.
Police have yet to release the name of the driver, and currently remain at the scene until the road is cleared from the crash debris.
The accident has caused long traffic tailbacks on the road between Kathu and Patong. Police are advising motorists to use alternative routes until the road has been cleared.
A staffer at Phuket Ka Cement told the Gazette that the store was sending employees to help clear the debris as quickly as possible.
