Today is TSB Thursday! This is one of the most interesting TSB to come out of Ford in a long time. If you read between the lines, it is a indication on where brake repair could be going in the future.
The TSB outlines a wear problem with the 2010-2011 Ford Transit Connect. The solution is to update the calibration of the ABS unit that performs the brake proportioning. One sources says the vehicle came to North America with the calibration for the European market where a semi-met pad was used. When the engineers at Ford “Americanized” the Transit, they left the brake calibrations alone but changed to a NAO pad that had less noisy. Oops!
The solution is to reprogram/reflash the ABS module with an updated calibration.
