The recall that was announced today for the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 is interesting to technicians because it shows if the vehicle is driven hard (the majority of vehicles involved in crashed were police versions), the ABS/ESC fuse can blow.
The ABS/ECS system is active all the time and is also responsible for dynamic brake force distribution. This system replaces a mechanical proportioning valve. It is constantly changing the brake bais to keep the vehicle stable.
The cure for this is to modify the power distribution center and relocate the fuse for the ABS/ESC. Final details of the repair procedure has not been released.
