Want to learn more about the automotive industry’s transition to low- and zero-copper brake pads?
Our friends at Wagner Brake do a tremendous job explaining the industry’s rapid transition to low-copper technology in a a brief technical video now available on the Wagner Brake brand’s website,www.WagnerBrake.com.
The video, featuring Federal-Mogul Product Development Manager Sarah Olson, illustrates the global implementation of recent legislation mandating the dramatic reduction of copper and other potentially dangerous materials in original equipment and replacement brake pads. Olson is part of the engineering team that synthesized a broad portfolio of low- and zero-copper formulations.
Just last year, Wagner introduced a brand new line of 2021 compliant Wagner ThermoQuiet CeramicNXT replacement brake pads featuring the brands breakthrough low-copper friction technology. By next year, Federal Mogul estimates more than 1 million vehicles will be stocked with their low and zero copper brake pads.
According to our friends at Aftermarket News, testing has shown that Wagner ThermoQuiet brake pads featuring the OE21 formulations offer 15 percent more stopping power, are 35 percent quieter and provide up to 40 percent greater fade resistance than previous Wagner ceramic formulations. “These are the best ceramic formulations – in terms of overall braking performance – Wagner has ever developed,” Battershell said.
