A truck driver from Florida who became trapped under his vehicle in sub-zero temperatures at an Indiana truck stop very early on Monday survived due to his worried wife who wouldn’t stop calling. Tim Rutledge, 53, went under his truck to break off ice from his brake pads when the vehicle suddenly shifted in the snow, pinning Tim to the ground with his cell phone in his pocket, but unfortunately out of reach. With nobody able to hear his cries for help over the roaring sound of engines, he was trapped under the icy hood for around eight hours. And with temperatures as low as 10 degrees below zero, doctors say Tim wouldn’t of lasted another hour.
But Tim’s loving wife was worried sick after she had not received her regular check-in call that morning, and decided to call him without cease. After a massive amount of calls, the vibrations coming from the phone moved the phone right out of his pocket and within the reach of his hands, allowing Tim to immediately call for help and get rescued. Rescue workers had to cut him out of his frozen clothes and following his rescue he spent two days in hospital. But while he is still numb on the side where the axle pinned him, the vehicle luckily shielded him from the wind enough for him to avoid frostbite.
