Durban,SA- A minibus taxi, responsible for the transportation of fourteen commuters, killed 14 on board after the drunken driver experienced brake failure and crashed into a semi-truck. The Sunday Tribune reports that the front and rear brakes on the vehicle were completely missing and the entirety of the body was rusted out. Some can’t even fathom the reason why this hunk of metal was allowed on the streets.
The taxi struck the flatbed truck and was cut in half, with most of the passengers bearing the brunt of the impact. In the wake of the collision, their bodies lay strewn near the mangled wreckage. Several people had been dismembered.
Remarkably, the one person responsible for this atrocity of a collision was also the one person who managed to leave the wreckage unharmed. Once the driver emerged, he was immediately arrested and taken into custody. The driver will appear in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court charged with murder and driving under the influence of alcohol.
